2011   Education / Outreach   Message In A Bottle

The theme for the Folkestone Triennial 2011 is A Million Miles From Home and many of the artworks focus on this.

What is Home? Is it real or imagined? Is it near or far?

Over the past few months many people from local schools and community groups have been answering this question and have sealed them up as a Message In A Bottle, These are on display in the Visitor Centre, The History Resource Centre in Folkestone Library and the Making Space at the Old Post Office in Tontine Street.

We would love you to tell us your tales of what home means to you and add it to our Message Exchange. Simply head to the Making Space at the Old Post Office on Tontine Street to make your own Message In A Bottle. Alternatively, you can download the instructions here and pick up a bottle from any of the venues listed below. When you have made your bottle simply return it for exhibiting.

Below is a video of how to make a Message In A Bottle

The Message Exchange.

Once you have created your own Message In A Bottle why don’t you photograph it and upload it to our Folkestone Triennial Education Flikr site? Then take your finished bottle and return it to one of the venues listed above.  Your bottle will be sealed and recorded and you will need to leave an email address or phone number so that we can contact you after the exhibition. We would like to get as many people involved as possible and send all the messages out in a huge Message Exchange.

Who knows? Your bottle could end up A Million Miles From Home……?!
