Tour Routes

Routes.

Each Route will visit between 6 – 8 commissions and will take around 2.5 hours. The descriptions below are an indication of the routes the tour guides may take, however they are open to variation and may respond to the group, weather or other events happening in Folkestone that day. Which ever route you take we can ensure an enjoyable and informative experience! Please come prepared for walking and weather.

Route 1
Start Point: 13 (on occasions this tour will start at ‘VC’ – please check event description for details)
Time: 10:30am
Starting at St Mary & St Eanswythe Church the tour leads visitors towards the Leas Lift and down, then along Marine Parade to the Harbour Area.
Please be aware visitors on this tour will need to pay £1 per person to travel on the Leas Lift (monies go toward the up keep of this incredible piece of Victorian engineering, one of only four Victorian water lifts in the UK)

Route 2
Start point: 2
Time: 14:30pm
Starting in the Sassoon Gallery within Folkestone Library the tour then takes visitors down through the Creative Quarter and the Old High Street along past the Harbour wall and Sunny Sands ending up at the National Coastguard’s lookout on the East Cliff.

Route 3
Start Point: 2
Time: 10:30am
Starting in the Sassoon Gallery within Folkestone Library the tour then takes visitors down through the Creative Quarter and the Old High Street to explore the commissions in the Harbour area, including the Harbour Railway Station and along Marine Parade towards the sea front.

Route 4
Start Point: 13 (on occasions this tour will start at ‘VC’ – please check event description for details)
Time: 14:30pm
Starting in St Mary & St Eanswythe Church the tour leads visitors into town, along the Sandgate Road, meeting sea views by the Leas Cliff Hall and promenading along the Leas towards the West Martello Tower.
